Pre-meeting (Executive and Administration)
- need to submit School Statement of Needs to the Superintendent (due Oct 31)
- Arts Council was going to do a mural project - teachers felt it was too much work for the fall, it might be revisted in the spring
- hot lunch will be back on for November 11 to reduce stress on the pizza lunch
- Remembrance day assembly will be 10:30-11:15, then kids will return to classroom for dismissal; primary kids will eat pizza in the gym
GENERAL MEETING
Treasurer's Report (Louise)
- we currently have $25,200 in the bank, however a good portion of this money is already slated for payment for things like the pizza lunches. There was 7100 raised by the fall funfair, 1200 by the Halloween Dance, 4700$ (to date) by pizza lunch
- reviewed the SAC Fundraising Plan/Disbursement Items and asked for questions/comments from the floor, there were no questions - the plan has been accepted
Principal’s Report (Ms. O’Brien)
- school purchased 6 violins and repaired 3 cellos (SAC will give the money for these items if money is available at the end of the year), also 6 trombones destroyed by flooded toilets were replace
- teachers at various grades have been sent for Professional Development on the following topics: running reading records, the seamless day in Kindergarten, mathematics in early years, M4YC (Math for Young Children), implementing the Alpha Jeune Diagnostic Reading test, MARS Entrepreneurial Think Tank, “The Desire to Learn” workshop
- October 20 was the first administrative “learning walk” through the entire school, every classroom was visited and teachers knew in advance the specific “look fors” and received feedback from the administrative team
- our school will be part of the TDSB Director’s Walk Through
- we recently hosted a “Choices for 9” learning session to review options for students transitioning to grade 9
- there will be a workshop for families of students who will be transitioning to High School who have an IEP on November 5 at Bowmore Public School (6:30-8)
- Dental Clinic will take place in December (date TBA)
- Photo retakes/Sibling pictures will be November 6
- there is now a lock on the Kindergarten area to keep the dogs out of the play area
- some classes (205, 210, 206) will be entering/exiting door 8 to relieve pressure on door 10
- buzzer system begins November 3 (from 9am - 3pm) there will be a buzzer at the doors. To enter the building you will need to be identified and then let in (this will apply to all stakeholders in the school: Woodgreen, Applegrove, Duke, SH Armstrong)…everyone will receive more detailed information from the school/daycare/community centre
- surveillance camera added to the basement of Woodfield building to try to stop vandals who enter from Applegrove
- a 0.5 Special Needs Assistant has been allocated to the school until November 28
- Lorraine is working full time in the office
- applications for Nutrition Assistant are due October 31
- unless you are a “regular volunteer” in the school you do not need a police check
- Duke has been declared conference champs in Girls Softball and Boys football
- all “other” groups in the building (Robotics, Hip Hop etc) are providing a list of the students involved in the program so the office can track where all students are during the day
- Mad Science, Yoga would be available if a parent wants to step up and co-ordinate (speak to Niki Rudzik if you would like to get involved and try to organize this)
- if we can get one teacher supervisor and a parent to be involved, Lego will run; there are currently 3 robotics teams running
- Halloween Parade October 31(details in NTR, website)
- letters written by Megan Ramsay’s class were read in parliament, there is an opportunity for 2 students from her class to go and speak at the House of Commons
- November 26 is the early French immersion information night
- on November 2 the Early French Immersion application process begins online
- French Read Up has begun on Tuesdays after school in the Danny Kitchen
- first “Recognition Assembly” is November 7 (details to follow)
- November 7 the Pan Am games mascot will be visiting the school in the morning
- the bathrooms in the cafeteria are finished and open for kids
Lego Club (Keith)
- there is a lot of LEGO (enough for kids grade 1-5) to have a LEGO club, there is a progressive system that moves kids towards robotics club
- there are 3 teachers running robotics team for students grade 5-7 (offered as a lunchtime program)
- there is not enough teacher support to run a program for kids 1-5
- there is a chance we could have an outside organization in to run a lunchtime program, but kids would have to pay to join

Santa’s Breakfast (Claudia Filici)
- November 29 (8:45-11)
- The following activities will be a part of the morning: breakfast in the cafeteria, santa’s photos, Rebellion Gallery crafts, holiday music, workshop on making holiday wreaths and then selling them at the breakfast, cookie decorating table, art auction, Winterland Trail, children’s childrens market, bake sale
- tickets (5$ pp) sold in advance begining in November
- volunteers needed
Family Night (Kimberly McQuay)
- December movie night will be December 12
- there will be an opportunity to be VIP family (through raffle)

- November 12 in Staff Room (6:30-7:30), hosted by Sheilah Currie
Model Schools Update (Melissa James)
- November 25 Volunteer training (learn about TDSB volunteer policies) occuring at CPAC training 7-8 at DA Morrison PS
- Choices Program (to help parents learn about career opportunities, financing education, personality profiles) happening in January and May
- Parent Guide to “My Blueprint” workshop for parents of kids transitioning from grade 8-9
- People for Education conference on November 8
- PIAC concerence November 15
- Inner City Advisory Committe meeting November 20
